Polly Higgins was honored on March 21st with the distinction of Campaigner of the Year at the The People and Environment Achievement Awards.

The PEA Awards recognise that all major breakthroughs by government, business and NGOs in environmental stewardship and social justice start with a person.

Polly Higgins was recognised for her passionate commitment to raising the profile of the damage to the planet by institutions, both public and private.

She has campaigned tirelessly to have these crimes against the planet officially recognised as such, and has crossed the globe with her compelling story.

In September last year, she orchestrated a mock trial with renowned legal experts at the UK Supreme Court to highlight the issue.   The trial was followed around the world, and reinforced the resolve of others fighting to have these crimes recognised and punished.
